Summary/Abstract: The study will demonstrate how investments in human capital can contribute to the economic recovery and to increasing individuals’ earnings. The benefits of investment in education are monetary and nonmonetary, at individual and at societal level. To overcome the recession, the economies need skilled people, with a high quality of human capital. The statistical figures show that returns on investment in education are incentives for people to stay in education in order to acquire higher skills and competencies. It is a case of matching between what the economies need and what the people demand. The governments have to be able to respond to this educational demand and to conceive appropriate human capital investment strategies aiming to the economic recovery.
