The Development of the Knowledge-based Economy and Information Society in Poland as a Challenge of the 21st Century – An Attempt at a Diagnosis

Summary/Abstract: Major indicators representing the development of the knowledge-based economy and information society in Poland have been chosen for discussion in this article, the aim of which is to diagnose the present situation. Both domestic and international publications were analysed in the author’s research on R&D expenditure efficiency in industry. The role of human capital is emphasised.
