Summary/Abstract: The author describes the very popular phenomenon of creating non-theatrical performances. He provides examples of specific sites of theater activities and ways that audiences function within them, often according to principles borrowed from or based on computer games. Tunnel 228 is particularly important – it was made in 2009 by British theater ensemble Punchdrunk in an inoperative section of London's metro system – as is the computer game The Path (a take on Little Red Riding Hood), both of which the author describes and analyzes in detail.
