Summary/Abstract: This article discusses Viktor Frankl logotherapy with a special interest in his anthropology and ethics. It searches for the ideal self that stands in the centre of the logotherapeutic concept of man. The premise of this research is a line taken from The Doctor and The Soul, the main logotherapeutic work: does logotherapy set an ideal which is too complicated and distant? It seems that Frankl has his reasons to consider logotherapy elitist and to worry about its capacity to help average therapy users. This question is not completely unreasonable – logotherapy works with concepts that sound too abstract and philosophic. Responsibility, meaning and courage, which are the main theoretical tools in the teaching of Viktor Frankl, might appear not easily manageable for the mass audience. The suggestion here is that this alarm is false or at least far-fetched.
