ORGANIZATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND BOARD DEMOGRAPHIC ATTRIBUTES: AN INVESTIGATION ON THE ROMANIAN COMPANIES

Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to examine the relationship between organizational characteristics and board demographic attributes for some of the Romanian companies that are listed at Bucharest Stock Exchange. Several organizational characteristics have been considered for our study, namely companies’ age, companies’ size and companies’ ownership structure. We checked the impact of these organizational characteristics on board demographics (size, age, female representation, number of non-executives and CEO-duality) through the use of ANOVA technique. Some important findings are presented for the Romanian listed companies within this research that could be beneficial for both practitioners and researchers.
