Summary/Abstract: Kibbuzim (singular: Kibbutz) are collective communities characterized primarily by economic cooperation. These communities are small, usually numbering from 300 to 900 residents. Kibbutzim societies were originally based on pooling economic resources to meet the needs of the members. This system assumes all humans are equal and are entitled to have their needs met regardless of their physical abilities, their technical or administrative abilities or the resources at their disposal. Kibbutzim health institutions saw themselves as responsible for members' health, and therefore institutionalized preventive medicine, ambulatory institutions, and medical check-ups- all under the community's financial responsibility. Health Management System in Kibbutzim is fundamentally different than those in non- Kibbutzim systems (cities, farms, etc). This can be related to recent findings about longer life-expectancy in Kibbutzim and about better health indicators measurements in diabetic people in Kibbutzim. Although there are data indicating that health management can increase life expectancy there are many changes to be made in order to reduce these differences.
