"Tłoka we żniwa” Stanisława Starzyńskiego. Wstrząsający dokument w artystycznej formie
Stanislaw Starzyński Tłoka we żniwa. Shocking document in artistic form

Summary/Abstract: The work consists of two parts. In the first described one of the most interesting poems Starzynski: Tloka we zniwa. The verse was inspired by the events that took place in 1804, when the author returned from Vilnius, where he studied, to the family home. Starzynski witnessed the tragedy of woman forced by other villagers to additional work for the landlord (‘the crowd in the harvest’). In the absence of the woman a tragedy became – a little daughter of her was blinded by the hens because she left without care. Starzynski wrote a poem in a very masterly form, which was analyzed. High artistic means and the use of hexameter, which Mickiewicz applied in the Piesn Wajdeloty (in the epic poem Konrad Wallenrod, 1828), have given the poem Starzynski the rank of the great epic. The second part is editing The crowd in the harvest, made from the manuscript. Text were transcribed and commented.
