Summary/Abstract: This article is about a research conducted among Transcarpathian Romanians. It uses classical anthropology methods, and focuses on the history of a community, the relation between remembrance and history, or the collective remembrance and individual memories. The representative personality in this community is a French teacher named Marioara Deiac. She has her father’s (Dumitru Huban) manuscript form diary from 1982 about the period of 1945-55 that he had spent in a concentration camp. The written text provides long-term subsistence, but restricts the immediate communication between the audience and the community’s actor. The man’s text is a “histoire”, followed by the woman’s oral comments. The main attribute of the diary’s discourse type is remembrance, in this case the writing which makes history. Marioara creates “récit”, and reconstitutes her father’s fixed and unprocessed memories’ themes.
