Summary/Abstract: Today people seek after the negative form of freedom – independence only. But such kind of freedom goes together with insecurity and isolation. The existential freedom has another – positive side, i.e. it is concerned with responsibility, spontaneous creation and self-expression. There is impossible to be independent from death or not choose it. The only possible freedom understanding one‘s mortality is the positive freedom – freedom for death. Very important for the experience of such freedom is the belief in Being fraught with meaning beyond man and world. Freedom for death does not liberate from death itself and does not impel to suicide but helps to live a creative and responsible life.
