Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the essential question for understanding the process of sacralization and of secularization of Western Europe: what ideological legitimation did the early church create in order to favour classical philosophy and culture? The article goes through the basic ideas of that sort looking at the leading christian intelectuals’ works of primitive church. Eventually, there is considered the importance of that ideological turning-point for the church history and modern civilization.
