SOME ASPECTS REGARDING THE ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONING OF THE NATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DIRECTORATE

Summary/Abstract: Faced with the reality that no country is immune to corruption and taking into consideration the devastating and subversive effects that corruption can have on the public and on state institutions, the international community has developed tools for effectively combating and preventing corruption, calling attention on both public and private sectors. In this context, by the Government Emergency Ordinance no.43/2002, a specialized body for combating corruption was created by the name of National Anticorruption Prosecutor Office. The initiative of creating the National Anticorruption Prosecutor Office was welcomed by the European Commission, fact which was mentioned in the Country’s progress report of 2002.
