Summary/Abstract: The language of gnosis is important and relevant at the esoteric level of interpretation of text. Examination of inner meanings includes methods and approaches that, in communication with text or utterance or a written statement, explain the sense and meaning contained in them. Exploratory approaches may include: a) A hermeneutic approach, which assigns importance to the understanding of the recipient rather than the intention of the speaker. This is one kind of dialogue of the recipient with the text, in order to understand the inner meaning of sentences. b) A semantic approach, where the speaker’s intention is the token of meaning, and the recipient is to draw conclusions on what the speaker said and intended. Two methods are of importance in this approach: the ”methodological individualism”, which treats different verbal analogies, linguistic and syntactic rules, in order to analyse the text structurally, and the ”methodological holism”, which starts from the whole and leads to the understanding of an individual sentence. c) A method of mutuality, which is created by a merger of the two approaches on the basis of a single sample and an investigation programme that facilitates an interaction between the speaker and the listener, or the author and the reader. The meaning of message and text is the result of a methodological mutual relationship between the recipient and the text. The speaker’s intent is merged with the requirements of the recipient. The writers or the speaker’s intent is uncovered through interaction between the reader, i.e. the recipient, with the text, i.e. the statement.
