Linguistic Realisation of Skender-basha’s Document Accompanying the Adhnama of Fojnica in the Production of begovica

Summary/Abstract: Particularly important in the Bosnian linguistic production of the 15th century is the forma and content of Skender-basha’s Document, i.e. its particularities: indigenous bosančica script is a testament of continuity of Slavic writing in the courts of sanjak-beys and Bosnian beys in general; archaic phonological forms (ijekavian and ikavian reflexion of jat, frequency of non-transformed forms, consonant groups čl-, čt- and vs-), morphological (later Bosnian suffixes in certain declinations and conjugations) and lexical forms (with a considerable share of borrowings, with inherited structural patterns) with nuanced combinations of spoken language, old Bosnian phrases of customary law, influences of medieval linguistic tradition, through with infiltrated innovations and expressions of new culture and practice. Expressions are free from morphological and lexical elements of Church Slavic, with pronounced Ottoman-Islamic elements and new lexemes, which spread into the vernacular due to their semantic significance.
