Summary/Abstract: The present paper displays the significant role that Budapest played for the Romanian culture of the XIXth and the beginning of the XXth century. The publication of important works, the education of important Romanian intellectuals in Budapest, as well as the Latin rebirth movement of the Aromanian minority, which occupied high positions in the Hungarian administration contributed to the struggle for cultural rights and national recognition. The author further analizes the development of the Romanian press in Budapest, showing how some of the most renowned Romanian poets were published there and how the journalistic activity and the national movement are interwoven.
