Globalization and localism in local development − selected elements

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary problems of local development are determined by many factors. One of the most important appears to be the globalization of the world economy. Transformation and the accompanying phenomenon in the economic structure have led to the renewal of the importance of the idea of localism, which, referring to the local government takes place in the conditions of scattering of business activities and the growing concentration of ownership and control. Localism, besides invaluable initiative, unfortunately also involves risks.
