Special economic zones in Poland vs. Financial and economic crisis

Summary/Abstract: Special economic zones are one of the instruments of regional policy in Poland. The primary purpose of them was to attract capital for economic activation of specific areas, which has consequently led to the acceleration of social and economic development of the region. Among the milestones it is important to set apart above all the increase in employment and the improvement of the situation on the labor market. This article draws special attention to the effects of operation of special economic zones located in Poland in the period from 2008, that is the year considered as the beginning of global financial and economic crisis.
