Reports of an American Marquise on Nikola I Petrović

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this papers is to present the American public interest in the life on Montenegrin court through the writings of Margaret Cunliffe-Owen (Marquise de Fontenoy), who was the author of leading column depicting the life of European aristocracy. Marquise de Fontenoy has described the Montenegrin royal house along with other royal families of Europe in her book Revelation of High Life Within Royal Palaces. The book was published in the USA in 1892, and hasn’t been translated yet. Many information on Nikola I Petrović appeared continuously in Marquise de Fontenoy`s column in the Chicago Tribune until 1918.
