Summary/Abstract: Censorship is the control of books, theatre and cinematic creations, public events and mass media. Censorship fulfills the function of preventive and repressive (after publication of forbidden information) control. The system of particular limitations, which protect from undesirable information, is a part of civilized society. In democratical countries so - called new censorship replaces prohibition or limitation of open early information, which is typical for totalitarian regime in democratical countries. Protecting the society from unrenderable or destructive information, prohibitions and limitations can block free circutation of ideas and information, limit pressmen activity gathering, arranging and transferring the news. Limitations determinated by the law, inconsistence of media self - regulation, the influence of political, economical groups establish conditions for information dosage, manipulation of society opinion. There is analyzed in the article, how information spread runs under democracy conditions, how much obvious or hidden influence mechanisms perform positive role denying everything, what is inacceptable in society. And how this influence can manipulate the press itself. For the government, elected in democratical way, its merits evaluation is very important, that's why politicians, authorities care about better image limitations. The lost chance, to impact mass press directly, is replaced by new, more flexible and various influence forms. In this text censorship means: impediments, which arise for press activity, free ideas and information circulation. Realizing, that particular information limitations help to keep the world peace, the refuse only negative meaning of the word "censorship". Limitations, determinated by the law, pressmen self - regulation mechanisms, information selection contradictions, which are caused by media activity's particularity.
