Summary/Abstract: The article describes major sources of plastics waste and methods of its recycling. It characterizes plastics and presents their advantages and possibilities of application in the industry. It defines branches of industry and products they produce from plastic. The new act about waste shows disposal methods of waste to producers. There are three major methods of reusing plastic. Choice is dependent on the quality of waste, applied technologies and economic balance. In the future there may be alternative methods of reducing waste and producing energy or recycling materials.
