Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the situation of Roma minority who, while having full civil and ethnic minority rights, are disadvantaged compared to the rest of Polish society. Poverty, unemployment and social exclusion combined with the low education levels are considered to be major problems for the Romani people in Poland. The author discusses their legal position, distinctive culture, social and living conditions and efforts of Polish public institutions to improve the situation of the Roma minority.
