Summary/Abstract: The war events of the 2nd half of the 17th century and especially their reflections in memoirs (besides the official chronicles of that period) are the important parts of all the text sources enabling us to reconstruct our national history. In spite of the fact that the memoirs written by Mikuláš František Kernerius (he died in 1689) primarily refer to Central Moravia – but quite often the author depicts them in the wide context. Presumably due to his information deficiency Kernerius does not comment on the events of general importance in great details. However we can confront his point of view with other sources of that period, especially with the official historic documents and with correspondence. The most important seems to be the stay of the Polish King Jan III Sobieski in Olomouc in 1863 during his expedition to help Viena beleaguered by Turks. Kernerius’s reflection of this event is complemented by acta quottidiana (daily notes) of the royal city council of Olomouc and the letter written by Jan III Sobieski. He sent it from Prostějov to his wife Marysieńka (Marie Kazimíra d’Arquien, 1641–1716).The picture of the war events of the 2nd half of the 17th century in Moravia created by Mikuláš František Kernerius is the reflection done in the Central European context.
