Summary/Abstract: Jewish legend says that Abraham’s father Terah was an artist who sculpted images of gods. One day Terah left his workshop and asked his son Abraham to guard the idols. Abraham smashed the statues, except for one large one, and placed the stick that he’d used to break the idols in the last remaining idol’s hand. Terah returned and was stunned to find his entire shop strewn with pieces of broken idols. “What have you done?” he asked Abraham. “I spent many hours building these statues.”
