Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present study is to inquire upon culture’s meaning in contemporary society, as much as an agent for unifying with the Absolute, as a vehicle in the transmission of the Gospel’s teachings. It is not possible to speak about the Gospel discarding culture at the same time. Culture is that which permits us to find answers and solutions to fundamental categories of existence. The undertaken research wishes to clarify some controversial aspects that may arise in the realm of culture. Is the man of culture to be taken as an example of moral authority? Is it possible for the modern cultivated man to be a confessor of the revealing truth amidst contemporary society? Is culture able to unfold answers and elucidations for the major issues of existence? We are hereby trying to formulate a few responses to these interrogations by analyzing the works of Rafail Noica, Andrei Pleşu, Mihail Neamţu, Nicolae Steinhardt and Anastasios Yannoulatos.
