Summary/Abstract: The second Psalm is part of the collection of 150 psalms present both in Jewish worship and in the Christian one. In all likelihood it is authored by the prophet David. The hymn in question was part of a coronation ceremony at the time it was written within Jewish society. Today, within the Christian Church, it is a memorial of the work of salvation accomplished by God in His Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord being the only possible march for the King spoken of in our Psalm. God, the Father of the Messiah (the Anointed One of the Lord), is working in Him in annihilating and, then, winning His enemies for Him. The way in which this is done is different from that of any other king before Him, the Mesia using a single weapon of defense and then conquer: the trust in His Own Father Who is always with Him and Who imposes Him as the Ruler of the world.
