Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of migration, which led to the development of different diasporas, settled on ethnic and religious criteria, is a general phenomenon, which emerged from the ancient times. Along history, this phenomenon brought about significant spiritual, cultural and social changes. Within this context, Israel has a rich diaspora tradition, which exemplary cultivates solidarity and connection with the native country of its ethnical identity, with the holy land of Israel. With regard to people living abroad, it must be stated that the environment they are living in is most of the times, unfavourable for expressing their belonging to Orthodoxy. This is the reason why „Orthodoxy in the Occident remains a discreet presence which struggles to give a better explanation of several aspects of its spirituality, to the western world: the icon, the Jesus’ prayer, the Byzantine liturgy” . It is quite imperative that a more diversified religious support be provided in diaspora, therefore, the initiative of the Orthodox churches to increase the number of eparchies and parishes abroad, is highly commendable especially because, in default of such eparchies and parishes, the only manner in which the migrants may keep contact with the orthodox and national spirituality would be the Internet, with all its traps. Fortunately, the ecclesial structures belonging to the Orthodox Church, located outside the country borders, enjoy the necessary recognition as well as the rights to which they are fully entitled.
