AN ALLEGORY BY P. B. SHELLEY – IN DISPUTE WITH TRADITION

Summary/Abstract: The article endeavours to tackle the problem of Shelley's insight in one of the mythological Biblical symbols. The paper is foregrounded on the attempt to analyse this refutation from a complex standpoint. The critical approach to various researchers has been searched. Historical, social, philosophical and religious perspectives are established. The psychological viewpoint is not omitted. The conclusions are based on logical speculations trying to link the new powerful image of the poet to his refuting some ecclesiastical dogmas.
