Summary/Abstract: Modern media carefully cultivate images of gender identities and roles. In representing women they utilize various strategies, from symbolic exclusion to ghettoization of women’s experiences and interests. Their usual common product is symbolic gender inequality. This article focuses upon three aspects of the process: first, the messages of media texts about women, second, how popular media educate their female audiences and finally, weather obvious feminization of media professions contributes to different media content. ‘Women and the media’ relationship is deeply disturbing in all those respects.
