Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is to show a mechanism of etymological reinterpretation strategy as one of Joyce’s key wordplays. In accordance with the research the most typically indicated wordplays are: a hierogram, a riddle, an anagram. Etymological reinterpretation enables translation which is equivalent in terms of communicational and dynamic transfer of a statement.
