Summary/Abstract: A main purpose of the article is to indicating breaking points of the process of translation. Linguistic games used for analysis were excerpted from passages of Ulysses by James Joyce, in translation by Maciej Słomczyński. Material was categorised as word play strategy of the audio form, the special attention was devoted to onomatopoeias and their configurations. A methods used to analysis were: algorythming and hiperonimic defining. As a result of analysis they showed that indeed a phenomenon of the nontranslatability didn’t exist, it is possible only to talk about the relative nontranslatability. A dynamic and functional transfer is the most frequent transfer of audio forms. However in the case of the onomatopoeia - cultural transfer.
