Some Remarks on Lexical Borrowings From French

Summary/Abstract: The article ‘Some Remarks on Lexical Borrowings from French’ deals with a number of issues: 1) single or multiple borrowing of various lexical categories: nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs; 2) multiple of parallel or simultaneous borrowings from various languages (the issue of lexical internationalisms); 3) ways of producing morphological formations from French-based bases; 4) the structure of language group of words borrowed directly or indirectly from French. The research has been based on lexical material selected from {Uniwersalny słownik języka polskiego} ({Universal Dictionary of the Polish Language}) edited by Stanisław Dubisz.
