Summary/Abstract: Diagnosing processes of local development in realities of the world economy in crisis is worth looking at a bit more closely. Both the present crisis and the unchallenged growth of significance of local development are a repercussion of general megatrends occurring in modern world economy. Holistic approach to these dependencies does not only bring the essence of these phenomena closer but it also allows to indicate desirable postures and behaviors of local communities in relation to these challenges. The following considerations are an attempt of explanation of some problems related to local development in the modern very compound reality.
