Summary/Abstract: The research included verifying the hypothesis that housing is a substantial determinant of fertility in Polish cities of 100 thousand and more inhabitants classified according to regions in the years 1998-2008. The components of housing are: average number of rooms per dwelling and average usable floor space in square metre. The tool of choice applied in finding such mechanisms were regressive linear and ono-linear demometric constructs models of fertility. The results of analysis confirmed that the dwelling conditions influence total fertility rates at a part of given cities.
