Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the relationship between the social norms and the individual autonomy. The individual is described as the source of the vitality and renewal of the society. The social reality is understood as a gallery of individual portraits, drawn both by the social norms and the individual revolts against them. The above collision is analyzed via the topics of religion, tolerance and the modern philosophical discourse on the individual.
