Summary/Abstract: Resting on varied sources, the author follows the level of social mobility in the kingdoms of the Franks and the Anglo-Saxons in the 5th-9th century and its reflection on the marriage market. The possibilities have been discussed of women of different social statuses from these kingdoms to keep or improve their social and economic status by getting married.
