Summary/Abstract: Central Asia had been the home of most visible religions and most of the socially recognized religions that transcended both time and space went hand in hand in her arena. This region emanated no less than a cradle for the nascent but dominant religions (Buddhism, Islam Zoroastrianism) and therefore brought them up. These were followed by flocks of people and were adhered to both ritualistically and through prayers in the so called local mazars or Mosques. Local cult’s countered enough primacy both at the hands of the people and the local chiefs, and most of the people particularly among the nomadic population of Central Asia. They, above all, met both hospitable atmosphere and publicity, not because of the religious goading only but for the role that was woven in the historical cum cultural route that is pronounced as “Silk Route”. The Sufism of the region also played into the hands of what seemed true to the essence of religious estimations of the people. The major religions remained in sway only in those areas which either were the centers of roaring economies or found their hearths in and around the Silk Route. However, as we know it was central Asia where religion played dominant role in the oasis like Uzbekistan and gave specific rights to both the men and women. In this article we wil highlight the position of women folk in Uzbekistan from Khanate era to independent era. The article will also highlight the condition of women in the society and impact of soviets on their lives. This article will also give a description of women in post independent era.
