Summary/Abstract: Xinjiang is the one of the largest provinces of China. Since 1949, the communist government of China had migrated millions of Hans from inner parts to Xinjiang for political and economic reasons. The migration of Hans led to demographic changes of the province as the percentage of Hans in the population reached 42% from 6% in 1949. This Han migration also had its impact on the society and economy of the Xinjiang as most of the native’s blame Hans are taking away jobs and resources from the Xinjiang as government prefer Hans then the natives in these jobs. The paper will highlight the socio economic impact of these migrations on Xinjiang and the response of Uyghurs.
