Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of a collection of short stories by J. Klobouk Návrat domů and a novel Doličné záznamy o zcivilizování ostrova Scraps by K. Srpen, both written in exile by Czech authors, in which trauma of the year 1968 is expressed in a metaphoric form. Klobouk in his stories concentrates on fi gures of aliens, insidiously attacking heroes who can defeat them using only the same deceit and shows the inexorable rules of history wrecking ordinary people’s lives. The novel by Srpen is an example of, using terminology of s. Balbus, evident imitation of Karel Čapek’s style and tells a story of seizing power by different types of people on an unknown island, inhabited by a group of survivors. The author shows that the most treacherous methods were the ones used by communists. Both authors concentrate on indivudual’s fate which in a methapforic and allegoric way depicts an experience shared by the whole nation.
