Summary/Abstract: The article concentrates on the history of the Catholic Union (Związek Katolicki) in the Sejny or Augustów Diocese. The author also indicates the origin and development of the CU in the Polish Kingdom. It enables to apprehend not only the social and political context of events being described, but also the general panorama of the structures and activities of this organization. The considerations strive for answering the following questions: what structures had the CU in the Sejny Diocese, did it develop the optimal network of its divisions in parishes, what kind of activities did it undertake and by what were they conditioned, what obstacles did it encounter in its work, and what was its specificity in the area being described?
