30 Years of the Foreign Policy Institute

Summary/Abstract: On behalf of the Turkish Foreign Policy I would like to welcome you to this conference “On the Way to Europe” organized on the thirtieth anniversary of the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute under the patronage of Foreign Minister Gül. In the beginning of my words please allow me to be emotional and share with my emotions: Thirty years in the life of any Institution is certainly a major achievement may be a source of pride and emotion to its founders and those who carry the burden of its modest yet effective work and mission. Secondly this year marks the culmination of unceasing efforts we have deployed alongside with the Turkish nation and its state and government to bring Turkey into the Union of Europe. The cause of my third emotion is personal and results from expressions and tokens of friendship my colleagues both in Turkey and outside as I turn another decade in my span of life.
