Summary/Abstract: Kekanović's first collection of prose, »Mechanics of Night, Papers«, belongs to the genre of fantasy. In many respects however, Kekanović's fantasy differs from the fantastic prose of the writers of his own age. Namely, the majority of young Croatian prose writers reel off the type of fantasy that is a throw back to the prose of the Latin American storytellers (primarily H. L. Borges), or the more modern types of European fantastic prose (the writings of F. Kafka and M. Bulgakov).
