Summary/Abstract: The study presents an analysis of financial situation in districts of Greater Poland Voivodeship in 2008. The analysis was based on selected indexes describing their financial situation. A typology of districts was conducted by means of Ward’s method. Seven clusters were distinguished. The best financial standing was found for the following counties: poznański and leszczyński (cluster I), jarociński, kolski, kościański, rawicki and szamotulski (cluster III). They recorded high financial independence, high ability to make investement expenses and low burden with repayments. The counties: czarnkowsko-trzcianecki, wągrowiecki and turecki had relatively the worst financial standing. This was caused by the lowest proportion of own revenues in budgetary revenues, limited ability to undertake new investment activities, as well as high indebtedness and burden with repayments.
