Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to show the impact of new technologies (computers, electronic media, and communication technologies) on the process of cultural production of public spaces. In an era of developing information society and the spectacular achievements of twenty-first century architecture, the image of public spaces is overlapped by some discrete events, a variety of architectural discourses and complexes of socio-cultural phenomena. This overlap is making public space variable, inconsistent, and hybrid (both real and virtual), as well as providing new opportunities (digital convergence and interactivity of various media) in the field of interpersonal communication. In this era, when the way of constituting a city has changed, public space may eventually lose its function as a materialistic and symbolic code by which it could have been reconstructed. Therefore, attempts to strike a balance between the group of aesthetic, symbolic and tangible values closed in public spaces, and a concrete group (community) require special attention. The issue is complex and difficult with respect to the way of finding possible solutions, resulting from the desire to keep the most important and immutable feature of public space, that no one has ever knowingly valued as much as the Athenians - being together in a space of social interaction and public dialogue.
