BESIM EFFENDI KORKUT: TRADITIONAL SCHOLAR IN THE MODERN WORLD

Summary/Abstract: Besim Korkut (1904-1975) was a famous Bosnian Herzegovinian scholar, Arabists and Islamic science professor, a longtime employee of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo. In his profilic scientific career nearly five decades long, Besim Korkut taught generations of students and professionals in the field of Arabistics and Islamic Studies, while his numerous scientific contributions and translations from Arabic language provided a permanent memorial and a place among the scientific and public workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina of XX century.
