Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to revisit Hamlet’s famous line “The time is out of joint” in the light of interpretations by Derrida (his analysis spectrality and temporality), Lacan (his treatment on Hamlet’s fate always at the hour of the Other) and Heidegger (linking of being, existence and time). Hamlet’s tragedy revolves on a crisis of identity involving rashness and dilatoriness, whose solution can only be found in the dissolution of the heroes’ existential bond to time at the end of the play.
