Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to explore the world of the gift-givers and gift-receivers in “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” and the kinds of obligations that gifts engender in the romance. Thus, following the path of oikonomia, and Sir Gawain’s journey to the Green Chapel and back to his fellow-knights at King Arthur’s court, different gift situations are interpreted.
