Summary/Abstract: The folk artifacts included in the rubrics Costumes and Jewelry, Material Objects, Traditional Art and Craft in the digital archive Bulgarian Folk Heritage are material in nature and three-dimensional in space, conveying information visually as products of the technological skills and creativity of man. These features determine the form of evidence of the specific artifact and respectively the type of archive material, which is described in digitization – photos, video-records, drawings, audio-records and their deciphering, verbal descriptions. The correct and thorough description is a necessary condition for effective search of the information needed both by scholars and general users. It has been facilitated by a classification scheme included in the descriptive matrix with main rubrics and sub-rubrics reaching at times to 5 granularity levels, which is applied in filling in three content fields of the matrix. The fields available for free text description and with key words presents additional information about the typological and regional characteristics of the specific artifact, of its situating in time and space etc. Extension of the digital archive with multiple and diverse materials allows for organizing representative collections to the main rubrics. The choice is based on different but well-assessed criteria, which account for the specific qualities of artifacts from the rubrics and for the motivation of the future users – scholarly interests, education, applicability. The representative collection Costumes and Jewelry shows male and female costumes from different regions of the country; village/urban; everyday/working/holiday costumes; summer/winter costumes etc.; differences according to gender, age, social status, ritual role of a person; diverse ways of decorating the costume – embroidery ornaments, woven and knitted application, braided adornment etc.; diversity of jewels; the changes in composition, pattern and adornment of the costumes in diachronic perspective...
