Summary/Abstract: In the Gospel of Lukethere are several quotations from Isaiah's prophecy, which are adapted to the cultural and historical context of Jesus' time. The first three explicit quotations of the Gospel follow a Hellenistic line of thought, expressed in the form of chiasmus. The citations are focused on Messiah and John the Baptist, following the reasoning used by Luke in order to find, through dialogue indirectly, the relation between these two prophets of the New Testament.
