Summary/Abstract: The presented article tries to contribute to the theory of securitization introduced by the Copenhagen school. The theory itself is of great importance; however, it misses some explanation of the process of political communication. The authors of the Copenhagen school focus on the speech act of securitization, but do not concentrate on its way to the audience. The presented paper focuses on the role of mass media and their effect on the process of securitization of international terrorism. The centre of attention is the process of political and mass media communication and the methods mass media use to influence this process, primarily their work with sources, the theory of agenda setting and framing.
