Summary/Abstract: This work presents the emotion of guilt with a wider focus on the subjective feeling. It differentiates between objective and subjective guilt in the theological sense of meaning, as well as subjective guilt in the psychological sense (neurotic guilt) with a distinct overview of the guilt induced by religious manipulation. In the first part, psychological and theological aspects of the emotion are discussed. The second part of the article is oriented toward the practical purview where the emotions of guilt are used as a means of communication for the purpose of manipulation. It concludes with the positive aspects in which the imposition of guilt emotions is constructive.
