Summary/Abstract: The paper disputes the opportunities and barriers of Lithuanian small and medium-sized business (SMB) sector integration to the common market of European Union (EU). The consideration of SMB conditions accents the influence of SMB to competitiveness and growth of the economy, evaluates the situation related to the SMB development in Lithuania and international comparisons of the SMB development tendencies and feasible prospects, and discusses the methods and improvable aspects of financial assistance for Lithuanian SMB.
